Durlston Country Park is
located just south of Swanage in Dorset. The Astronomy Centre consists
of a telescope housed in the Alan Jefferis Observatory Dome, together with
supporting facilities for talks and lectures in the close-by Learning
Centre. It is supported by the Ranger staff at the Country Park and by
members of the Wessex Astronomical Society.
To get to Durlston: Proceed to Swanage town centre and follow the
brown Leisure signs. Postcode for satnavs BH19 2JL. When you arrive at
the park go to the second car park for the Learning Centre.
Public observing events – These are held at certain times of the year when it is dark early enough. They normally include a talk in the Learning Centre followed by observing through various telescopes. There is a small charge (currently £4 for adults and £2 for children). See the Home page for details of the next event and our Programme page for details of our upcoming events.
