The galaxy M82 in Ursa Major is very close to M81 but they are very different in appearance. M82 is seen edge-on and appears to be quite distorted. It is known as a starburst galaxy . M82's distance is about 12million light years. It was imaged here using the LX200R 14" telescope with the Starlight Xpress SXV H16 CCD camera. Exposures were 12 minutes for the Luminance and 3 minutes each for the R, G and B. [Jefferis]
