Public Astronomy Events at Durlston

Talk plus observing using various telescopes and the Alan Jefferis Observatory dome telescope. £4 entry. Visitors are advised to check the homepage of this website before leaving to check the weather is suitable for us to to hold the event. There is plenty of parking at Durslton, so no need to book onto the event. Society members get free entry if they show their membership cards (either paper or on phone)

To get to Durlston:  Proceed to Swanage town centre and follow the brown Leisure signs. Postcode for Sat Navs BH19 2JL. When you arrive, at the castle follow the road round to the right to the second car park for the Learning Centre.

Saturday 29th November 7pm = Moon 66%, Copernicus on show, Saturn with Enceladus appearing from behind at 8:48pm, Jupiter with Callisto appearing from behind at 8:50pm and Io shadow transit at 10pm, Autumn constellations

Saturday 13th December 7pm – Geminid meteor shower, no Moon, Jupiter, Saturn with Dione appearing from behind at 10:28pm, Winter constellations

Saturday 24th January 7pm – Saturn low in west, crescent Moon, Jupiter with Ganymede occulting at 10:23pm, Winter constellations

Saturday 21st February 7pm – Slim crescent Moon (set by 10pm), Jupiter with Io occulting at 10:40pm, Winter constellations

Saturday 14th March 7pm –  Jupiter with Europa occulting at 10:30pm, Spring constellations

Saturday 25th April 8.15pm – Moon 68%, Jupiter with Io shadow transit in progress until 10:45pm, Venus low in west at start of evening (20 deg up), Spring constellations
