Picture is a 2 panel mosaic of ngc6995, part of the Veil supernova remnant in Cygnus.The delicate tendrils of glowing gas (blue is double ionised oxygen) and red (hydrogen alpha)are caused by the advancing shock front crashing into the stationary gases of the interstellar medium.

total of 4 hrs each of Ha and O3 on a 190mm Mak-Newtonian using an Atik 460e camera and Baader NB filters, processed with DSS, Maxim and PS5 and Image Composite Editor to assemble the mosaic.
